Tactic

The story goes like this:

A girl's wandering around the booths wanna look around. Then she saw a booth with lots of magazines. Seems interesting, she wanted to stop by the booth. A second she was there, a man approached her asking what she's looking for. The girl said nothing, just wanna have a look. Then the man explained that they have promotion where the girl can subscribe a magazine worth RM700 +/- for one year with only RM500 plus other two monthly magazines for free. The girl's understood and just nodding while listening to the man.

Sounds good but it's not my priority, so the girl thought.

When the man finished explaining, he suddenly took out the receipt book asking the girl to write her name, address and contact number. Confused, the girl told him that she hasn't even decided to buy. The man said "that's okay, just write your particular and pay the deposit, RM50 or RM100 either one is okay and come again tomorrow". The girl didn't know what to do. She didn't want to buy and wanted to refuse politely, but it seems the man didn't want to understand.

The girl gave excuses that she doesn't have cash, the man said the ATM is around, she wants to think first and come again later, the man said you must come, I have already remembered you. The girl became annoyed, then she said, "I have to discuss with my mum first, I'm not a rich girl you know. Moreover, if I give deposit, what if I suddenly don't want to buy?" The man was silenced. Then finally he said to the girl, "okay, just write in your particular, but it will be good if you have made up your mind to buy and come back tomorrow".

Satisfied, the girl filled in the particular, took the business card handed to her and left the booth swearing not to come again!!

Jeez... what the heck! no one has right to force someone to do or to buy whatever he doesn't want to. This thing will only makes one afraid to come to your shop again. I know la you will only open your booth for 3 days and want to sell as much as possible and doesn't have to worry whether you customers will run or not. But it will be better if you respect other's right to choose and show your professionalism in business.

Haiya, I'm familiar la with this tactic, have encountered one when I went to optician to survey on contact lenses which ended up having forced to buy one. lucky I really really don't have cash at that time. Sorry to disappoint you, businessman.
